1. Take Inventory
The first step in how to get out of a makeup rut is to look at your current collection of makeup and sort. Sort out your must-have products with the items that are old, used up or you just never use anymore. Get rid of the items that are old and are no longer used so you don’t have to deal with them anymore. Focus on what you have, do you need to replace any products or stock up on anything? Make a list for yourself and then head to the drugstore or makeup counter.

2. Just Looking
Next up in how to escape a makeup rut is to head to your nearest drugstore or beauty supply store and get some inspiration from the new colors and lines of makeup for the season. Look at all the displays and packaging and see if any look catches your eye. It’s rare that I can go to a drugstore or Sephora and not get inspired by someone or something! Makeup companies are constantly coming up with new products and creating new colors and themes to their products so be inspired!

3. Change up
Another great way to break out of a makeup rut is to change the features you normally emphasize. If you generally play up your lips, try playing up your eyes and play down the lips. Focusing on another area of the face forces you to try different tools, techniques and products. You might find yourself wondering why you never emphasized those sexy cheekbones before!

4. Different Strokes
Escape a boring makeup routine by adding a colored liner or mascara to your stash of beauty products! Some women never venture beyond black or brown liner or mascara and it’s a shame! Add an unexpected pop of color to your makeup by adding a flattering blue, green, violet or grey hue to your eyes to bring out the color of your beautiful eyes!

5. Venture Out
Another easy step in how to get out of a makeup rut is to try a beauty product that you’ve never used before. Instead of shying away from lip plumpers or eye luminizers, try them out! There’s no better way to break out of a lackluster makeup routine than to venture out and try something you’ve never used before! Try a set of false lashes or ombre lips, the options are endless!

6. Try Me
Try out cosmetics in a color you’ve never used before as a way of getting out of a makeup rut. There has to be some shades that you’ve never tried before! If you normally reach for neutrals, try out tangerine or hot pink. If you like bright colors, try using some earth-toned makeup. Try emulating a look that is the opposite of yours and who knows, you might find that you can rock the hell outta yellow eye shadow!

7. Get Versatile
The last tip on how to get out of a makeup rut is to switch up your cosmetics. Try using different products for different areas of your face. Try your favorite lipstick as a blush or a favorite eye shadow as a liner. Use a shimmery eye shadow to get a nice glow on your nose or try adding some of your favorite shade of eye shadow to clear nail polish and create a new nail color.

Take heed of these no-makeup beauty tips and prepare to be amazed at just how chic you can look with fewer beauty products and a light hand. We’ve all seen those girls who always look naturally gorgeous and their makeup looks very minimal, right? Well, I’m spilling the beans on the no-makeup look so now we can all look effortlessly fabulous and feel like natural beauties! All you need are a few tips to pull off the natural look!

1. Get Tinted
One of the most important no-makeup beauty tips is to have a natural base. If you feel comfortable going without foundation, opt for a tinted moisturizer with SPF instead which looks more natural. If you’d rather wear foundation, that’s okay too, pick a foundation with a dewy finish for best results and apply with clean fingers or a foundation brush, make sure there aren’t any harsh lines!

2. Cover It up
If you have any blemishes or dark circles around the eyes, be sure to disguise those areas with a concealer and let them stay undercover. Use concealer sparingly so you don’t end up accentuating the flaw, if needed, you can always layer the concealer for a more natural, no-makeup look. Wearing concealer might sound counterintuitive to the whole natural thing, but believe me; all those girls sporting natural looks are wearing plenty of concealer!

3. Powder Puff Girl
An optional no-makeup beauty tip is to lightly dust translucent powder all over the face after your foundation or tinted moisturizer sets, or leave it as-is. Keep in mind that you don’t want to overdo the powder or you’ll look made up. Natural skin has some shine to it, so don’t go completely matte.

4. See Your Shadow
This is another discretionary natural makeup tip; apply an eye shadow a smidge darker than your natural skin tone and apply all over the lids. You can also use a shimmery champagne color to highlight your brow bone and inner corners of your eyes as well. Keep those brows groomed to avoid appearing too natural; we’re talking about tips for minimalist makeup here, not lazy makeup!

5. Pucker up
The principal tip for a natural lip is to use a tinted lip balm or lip butter. If you have a nude lip color you really like, feel free to use it. Creamy or semi-sheer lipsticks work best with this look. Apply your lip product of choice straight from the tube or dab it on with your lips with your fingers and your no-makeup look is complete!
Katie Franceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12665807196153074019noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4592899459832143310.post-91939501601675503592012-02-14T22:31:00.001-08:002012-09-08T23:21:28.919-07:00Skincare Tips for Summer

Summer is here again and you can finally put on a pretty sundress or shorts and a pair of thongs and enjoy the sunshine! But while you’re having fun, don’t forget to look after your skin by following my Skincare Tips for Summer. Looking after our skin in one of the best things we can do in order to maintain a healthy, radiant glow throughout this summer and for the years to come, so here are my 7 Skincare Tips for Summer:

1. Sun, sun, sunscreen
The first of the skincare tips for summer is simple: wear sunscreen! Protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays, which are most dangerous during summer, when you are out and about enjoying the sunshine. Don’t stop going out into the sun completely – summer is fun! Just apply an SPF 30 + sunscreen when you are outside.

2. Exfoliation is great
Did you know that your skin is constantly shedding dead skin cells? If you don’t get rid of them, they sit on top of your body and make your skin look dry and dull. Exfoliation gets rid of the dead skin cells and uncovers the healthy cells underneath, making your skin look luminous again. Tools of the trade include loofahs, exfoliating gloves, body brushes and believe it or not, the old fashioned facial towel. You can use these with a moisturizing soap or body lotion or for double scrubbing power, try a body scrub or an exfoliating soap. Rub the exfoliator in circular movements over your skin all over your body and then rinse off. Do this two or three times a week and your skin will stay silky all summer.

3. Moisturize
After your shower or bath, especially after exfoliating, apply a good quality body moisturizer to your body for shiny, hydrated skin. For summer, you are best to chose a light lotion that is fast absorbing. Lotions with coconut and mango are lovely summery scents. Spray moisturizers are convenient for bare legs in summer while if you have twenty minutes to spare, natural moisturizers like yoghurt and honey applied to the skin for this time and then scrubbed off will get your skin glowing.

4. For your face
A good facial routine will keep your skin from becoming dry over summer so cleanse, tone, moisturize and exfoliate. After cleansing, it is important to use a toner to remove any excess dirt, oil, make up and sweat residue from your active summer day. Keep your bottle of toner in the fridge over summer for a lovely cooling effect. Choose a light moisturizer that will hydrate your face without clogging your pores. Finally, exfoliating your face is also extremely important over summer. Buy a special facial exfoliator, which isn’t as harsh as a body scrub, and use it twice a week or before applying a sunless tan. It will remove dead skin cells, allow moisturizers to penetrate deeper into the skin and leave your face looking fresh.

5. Keep hydrated
My previous skincare tips for summer have been all about moisturizing, which means keeping the skin hydrated. The best way to hydrate your skin is from the inside, by drinking lots and lots of water. Stay hydrated during the day by packing a large bottle of water into your backpack, handbag or beach bag. Drink water regularly throughout the day and refill it when necessary. Don’t wait until you are parched to take a sip – if you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated. A great, refreshing way to start the day is to add the juice of a fresh lemon into a big glass of water. It will give you a zing to start your day, keep you hydrated and result in clear, bright skin all through summer.
Katie Franceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12665807196153074019noreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4592899459832143310.post-3011152892203742162012-02-14T22:19:00.001-08:002012-09-08T23:22:16.770-07:00Figure Out Your Skin Type

"I've found that the majority of women guess their skin type incorrectly, which means they could be using the wrong cleanser," says Leslie Baumann, M.D., a dermatologist and founder of the Cosmetic Medicine and Research Institute at University of Miami. Baumann stresses that it's best to let a dermatologist diagnose your skin type, but she says you can get a good read from this D.I.Y. test: Rinse your clean face with 10 splashes of lukewarm water, then pat it dry and wait 45 minutes. If your face feels tight or looks ashy, you probably have dry skin. If it's shiny all over, it's oily. If just your forehead, nose, and chin — the T-zone — are shiny, you likely have combination skin. And if your skin is easily irritated, that usually means it's sensitive.
Katie Franceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12665807196153074019noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4592899459832143310.post-63854200560029268782012-02-14T22:14:00.000-08:002012-02-19T04:44:33.923-08:00Splash with Care

Here's the cold, hard truth: Rinsing your face with icy water won't tighten your pores. And using hot water, though it may feel good, can dehydrate skin. Lukewarm is best, and if you have redness, try cool — not cold — water, to help constrict blood vessels, Waldorf says. What can impact your skin is hard water (check your supply with a simple water-testing strip, available at the hardware store). "Over time, it can cause skin irritation," Baumann says. "Putting a purifier on your bathroom sink will filter out some of those harsh minerals."
Katie Franceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12665807196153074019noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4592899459832143310.post-90778806587210414672012-02-06T22:39:00.000-08:002012-02-06T22:40:50.325-08:00Tips to Choose the Perfect Moisturiser for You …

1. Determine

To begin with, you will need to understand what kind of skin type you have. This is not a difficult process; you can either make an appointment with your beautician or research how to conduct a home skin test and perform one on yourself. Ordinarily, skin falls into four major categories, but of course there are variations within these: dry complexions often feel tight and plagued by flaking, combination skins experience dehydration in some areas and greasiness in others, oily faces are prone to acne and shininess, and sensitive skins tend towards redness and irritation.

2. Read Labels

Once you have a good idea of what kind of skin you have, you will need to tailor your routine to its particular needs. This means that the moisturiser that you buy should be custom built for an oily complexion, for example, or for sensitive skin if that’s the type that best describes your face. In short, you will need to read labels very carefully before you make a purchase; don’t be tempted to buy something because your friends have it or because it looks pretty on the shelf.

3. Account for Acne

If you do tend to be plagued by spots, and if your skin becomes shiny over time, you will want to opt for a moisturising product that is specifically labelled with the word ‘non-comedogenic.’ This kind of lotion won’t block your pores in the way that a conventional cream will, and thus it won’t contribute to an increase in spots and blackheads.

4. Hypoallergenic

If you have very sensitive skin, you will absolutely want to go for a product that won’t aggravate dryness or cause any kind of reaction whatsoever. Simple, hypoallergenic skincare is your best bet in these cases: it is usually alcohol-free and doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals either.

5. Sample

It is impossible to find out whether or not you like a moisturiser unless you actually try it out on your skin. Ask shop assistant for samples of products in which you are particularly interested: this will allow you to test a moisturiser out over a couple of days and come to an informed decision about it.

6. Think About the Little Things

While the first and most important job that you moisturiser needs to get right is, of course, to nourish and hydrate your skin, there are other factors to take into account as well. Does it smell good to you, for example? Do you like the texture of it? And does it sink in easily without leaving a shiny residue? Make sure you consider the product from every angle – especially if it’s from the pricier end of the scale.

7. Ask the Experts

If you are really struggling to find the right moisturiser for you at your local cosmetics store, it might be a good idea to pay a visit to your skincare specialist or dermatologist. It is possible that you’d benefit from a niche product, and these experts will able to recommend one to suit you.
Raise your hand if your skin feels tight and uncomfortable after showering. Is your hand up? Yeah, mine too. And what about flakes and itchiness? Are those annoyances you’re putting up with as well? Thought so. Welcome to the season of dry skin, and you’re experiencing all of its un-pleasantries. But, it doesn’t have to be that way. With the help of skin-saving dermatologists Dr. Arielle Kauvar, Dr. Dennis Gross and Dr. Alex A. Khadavi, we’ll get to the bottom of your winter skin issues, and share handy tips on how to rescue your skin from dryness.

Why skin becomes dry in the winter:

Before we can solve any problem we first have to know what’s causing it. According to Gross, “Skin produces less oil in the winter due to the absence of sun light and heat…resulting in dry skin.” And, “there is less humidity in winter air…[which] causes moisture to evaporate off our skin,” he says.
But, it’s not just our environment that’s to blame. “Bathing too frequently with hot water and harsh soaps,” says Kauvar, are also common dry skin culprits.
When combined, the factors listed above are responsible for irritating our skin barrier. And, when “the skin barrier becomes perturbed, we need to aggressively moisturize to help get it back into shape,” says Khadavi. Here’s how to do that…

Tips for soothing dry skin from head to toe:

Tip 1: Look for quality moisturizers. They should contain “humectants (ingredients that draw water in like glycerin, hyaluronic acid) and emollients which are oils and lipids (like mineral oil, shea butter and ceramides) that seal the moisture in and help keep a protective barrier on the surface of the skin,” says Kauvar. Try Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion.

Tip 2: After showering, “keep the bathroom door closed to preserve the steam. Gently towel dry your body and apply moisturizer to skin that is saturated,” says Gross.

Tip 3: “Put moisturizer on the skin before you shower, it will shield the skin from drying up,” says Khadavi. Post showering, pat your skin dry and reapply.

Tip 4: Use “lip balms mixed with gentle exfoliators to remove the dry skin,” says Gross. They will keep lips hydrated, he says. Try Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Exfoliating Lip Salvation.

Tip 5: For thick, dry skin on areas like your elbows and knees, use salicylic or lactic acid-infused products. “Thicker skin generally needs a chemical exfoliant,” says Khadavi. Try Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Daily Body Peel.
To Take Off 1 Year…Embrace Concealer

Concealer works wonders on blueish undereye circles, but it can also add a youthful evenness to your entire complexion. Because the skin gets thinner as you age, capillaries and veins become more visible—and downplaying those subtle imperfections can be key. Dab concealer on either side of your nose, on the inner and outer corners of your eyes, and around your mouth. You’ll look instantly younger and more well-rested. (Note: The writer of this piece swears by this. It works!)

To Take Off 5 Years…Get Bangs

You had bangs when you were five—why not give them a whirl when you’re 50? While most haircuts are designed to open up your face, the right bang will actually minimize the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles, according to celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend, who has worked with Reese Witherspoon and Cate Blanchett. He suggests trying ones that are shorter in the middle and longer towards the sides—see: Julianne Moore’s new bangs—to allow the focus to be on the prettiest parts of your face.

To Take Off 10 Years…Try a Laser Treatment

According to Jennifer Lopez’s dermatologist Tony Nakhla, an in-office fractional CO2 resurfacing treatment is the most effective anti-aging treatment for most women. “It removes the outer skin layers and allows for skin regeneration,” he says. Translation? Less wrinkles, a more even skintone, and new collagen synthesis. Yes, yes, and yes!
Natural Anti Dandruff Remedies have helped a lot of people cure their flaky, itchy scalps and are, according to many, the only right way to get rid of dandruff once and for all. Now, I must admit that I have never relied on natural anti dandruff remedies to solve my flaky scalp issues but, since my dandruff seems to be coming back every time I stop using anti dandruff shampoo, I am definitely considering giving them a shot. How about you? Are you dealing with the same problems? Well, check out these 8 very interesting natural anti dandruff remedies that, in my opinion, seem pretty convincing:

1. Chamomile Tea Rinse

Sensitive, flaky scalp is one of the main causes of dandruff and since chamomile’s anti-inflammatory and soothing effects are already well known, you should definitely give a chamomile tea rinse a shot. People with sensitive skin often suffer from dry, flaky scalp as well and since there is no yeast overgrowth or dermatitis you need to cure in this case, all you’ll have to do is focus on moisturizing and soothing your poor scalp. Wash your hair with a neutral shampoo, apply your favorite conditioner, rinse well with clean, warm water and then do a final rinse using cold chamomile tea. It’s completely safe, healthy and both your hair and scalp will love it.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide

Sounds a bit strange, ever dangerous but a lot of people claim this is one of the best natural anti dandruff remedies ever! I, personally, haven’t tried it but I think it just might do the trick because both vinegar and peroxide have anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that deal with yeast overgrowth – one of the most frequent causes of dandruff. Now, the peroxide solution you are supposed to use here is just a regular, harmless 3% solution that can even be used for cleaning cuts and you are supposed to mix it with vinegar and clean, filtered water in the ratio 1:10 (1 part peroxide, 1 part vinegar, 10 parts water), apply it on your scalp, massage it in, leave it to work its magic for about 15 minutes and then rinse.

3. Tea Tree Oil

Using oil to deal with the sebum on your scalp seems like an odd choice but tea tree oil really helps control excess sebum and, when mixed with Aloe Vera oil in the 1:1 ratio, creates one of the most potent natural anti dandruff remedies you can whisk up at home. This homemade cure for dandruff works best if you give it a couple of hours so I suggest applying it early in the morning on days when you don’t plan to leave the house and wash it in the evening, before you go to bed.

4. Drink Plenty of Water

If you like to eat very salty food or have slow metabolism, your dandruff issues might have nothing to do with fungus or sensitive scalp but dehydrated cells instead. When cells don’t have enough water, they die faster which means your skin will shed more and… guess what… that includes your scalp too! So, here’s one of those universal cures that also happens to be one of the natural anti dandruff remedies you might find useful – Water!

5. Baking Soda

One of the natural anti dandruff remedies suggests ditching your traditional shampoo for a while (which, by the way, might be the thing that’s causing your dandruff) and washing your hair with baking soda! Baking soda a.k.a sodium bicarbonate is an alkaline solution which raises the PH value of your scalp, making it less acidy and, therefore, not the ideal place for yeast to thrive in. Chemistry 101 ladies!

6. Onions

There is one more thing yeast love just as much as acidy places of your body – sugar! And since raw onions, onion-juice as well as onion-based supplements lower blood sugar levels, including this veggie into your diet might work wonders for your dandruff problems and lower your chances of developing a vaginal yeast infection! Double gain!

7. Borax

Sodium borate, the salt of boric acid or, simply put, Borax is next on my list of interesting natural anti dandruff remedies I want to bring to your attention. This mineral possesses some really strong anti fungal properties you could use in case you’re suffering from a very flaky, very itchy scalp. Dilute it in water, and use for a second rinse after your mild shampoo.

8. Sage Tea Rinse

This common herb has some pretty amazing anti bacterial, anti fungal, soothing and astringing properties which definitely makes it good enough to be used in a battle against dandruff. It also contains essential oils which are often mentioned in terms of dandruff-reduction and hair repair so it won’t only help tackle your flaky scalp problems but do wonders for your hair as well. Use just like you would use the chamomile tea rinse and remember to switch to gentle, natural shampoos in order to give your battle against dandruff a fair chance.
Katie Franceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12665807196153074019noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4592899459832143310.post-17245573367547198922012-01-16T22:06:00.000-08:002012-01-16T22:07:24.246-08:007 Great but Effortless Remedies for Dry Hair …

1. Environment

The elements are just as damaging to your hair as heat and chemicals and that’s why the first remedy for dry hair would be to protect it from the damage caused by the things you can’t change such as sun, rain, wind or polluted air .Wear hats when outside to shield your hair from the sun, wind and minimize damage of other elements such as rain (which is, as we know, everything but clean these days) and salty or polluted air. If your hair seems to dry out as the seasons change increase conditioning at that time.

2. Avoid Over-Washing

Your stylist has probably told you that over-washing is one of the main causes of dry hair. In fact, one of the best remedies for dry hair is to completely avoid frequent washing. Stylists agree that washing isn’t needed everyday as it strips your hair of those natural oils it needs to stay luscious, shiny and healthy. Give it a try, wash your hair every other day instead of everyday and it will soon get used to your new habits.

3. What about your Shampoo?

Your shampoo may be the culprit of your dry hair. Many of the ingredients in shampoos will dry our your hair and leave it dull so, instead of spending big money on salon quality shampoos read this remedy for dry hair and look for shampoos that are pH balanced and sulfate free. This is a reasonably obvious point, I agree, but an important one to mention nevertheless.

4. How’s Your Water?

The water in your shower is a likely reason behind your dry hair as well. Our tap water can be heavily altered with chemicals which are added to kill bacteria and make it safe for drinking. To avoid this, one remedy for dry hair suggests changing your regular shower-head with a special one that has a built in charcoal filter.

5. Diet Changes

Dry hair may be a sign that something important is missing from your diet. Try adding more omega-3 fatty acids to your meals. Opt for vitamin supplements to provide you with your much needed nutrients on the go and make a note to yourself to eat more nuts, fish, and eggs. This healthy fat will help nourish your hair making it softer, stronger and more elastic.

6. Condition Condition Condition

One of the most obvious remedies for dry hair is conditioning, of course,. Besides regular conditioning after you shampoo, it is also important to add regular deep conditioning to your hair care routine. You can find deep conditioning treatments at your local beauty supply store and they will help replenish all the oils your hair needs.

7. Change your Styling

Our daily styling causes the most damages to our hair – I’m sure we are all well aware of that! With that been said, it goes without saying that one remedy for dry hair would be to change the way you style. Allow your hair to dry naturally every once in a while, try to use less styling products and focus on hairstyles that will allow your to look gorgeous without volumizers, hairsprays, hot rollers or curling irons.Katie Franceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12665807196153074019noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4592899459832143310.post-50386544447329894062011-12-07T04:18:00.000-08:002011-12-07T04:20:48.167-08:00Casual Cool Kate Middleton

Careers in Fashion are cool, glamorous but, unfortunately too popular which means you’ll have to work very hard and know a lot of people if you want to join fashion industry’s crème de la crème. Now, many people believe all careers in fashion require knowing everything there is to know about trends and brands but it’s not really true so I guess it’s safe to say talent, knowledge, skills and, for some careers, looks count as well. So, check out these popular, incredibly cool careers in fashion and see for yourself! Who knows, maybe one of these turns out to be your ideal job!

1. Model

One of the most popular fashion jobs and the first thing people usually think about whenever careers in fashion are mentioned is, of course, modeling! Now, being a model isn’t easy ladies and if you’re a Top Model fan, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. You need to have the right height, right body, right weight right face, right hair and what’s right in the fashion world often isn’t “right” for you. For those willing to work hard, modeling can be a very cool, not to mention incredibly glamorous and well paying job. Every man dreams about dating a model and every woman dreams about being one but let’s not forget all that media exposure, plenty of chances to meet famous people, high paying contracts and, oh, all that fabulous designer clothes!

2. Fashion Photographer

But, let’s not forget fashion photographers as we have these people to thank for all those wonderful posters and photos of bags, clothes or outfit suggestions. These people matter a lot, sometimes even more than models because they are the ones responsible for turning a vision into a reality. Fashion Photographers can get pretty famous (not to mention quite rich as well) and the best thing is that they don’t have to “belong” anywhere or to anybody but take up individual jobs instead.

3. Fashion Buyer

Speaking about careers in fashion, here’s one fashion-related job you’ll adore! You see ladies, fashion buyers actually get paid to shop! Now, isn’t that one awesome job? Certainly but in order to be hired as a fashion buyer, you’ll need to know everything there is to know about fashion. Fashion buyers can predict trends but they also have good knowledge of business and the combination of these two helps them negotiate better terms as well as supply cooler items to be sold in a certain shop. Fashion Buyers working for high end shops or web shops certainly have a glam lifestyle because they attend many fashion shows, get to be the first ones to see all of those fabulous designer items and, oh, how about all those free samples?

4. Fashion Stylists

Let’s say you’re a celeb – Well, your fashion stylist would, in that case, be something like a fashion buyer + which means he not only knows a lot about popular trends and designers but has the ability to mix and match them in a way that will make you are the star of the evening. Pretty cool job, indeed! In fact, I think this one might be one of my favorite careers in fashion! Celebrity stylists are the most popular and probably earn the most, too, although that doesn’t mean you can’t be one unless you move to Hollywood! TV stations hire stylists, magazines hire stylists, web shops hire stylists and, if you have what it takes to be one, you can certainly make a career out of it regardless of where you live.

5. Fashion Blogger

Interested to know more about cool, popular careers in fashion? Well, have you considered fashion blogging? Being a fashion blogger for a well-known website can’t pay your rent but it could secure you one seat for the next big fashion show and that, my ladies, is a perk worth mentioning. But what if I throw in free designer goodies or a chance to handpick the stuff you want to take home with you? Yeah, pretty awesome, I know! So, if you love to write just as much as you love fashion start browsing, as fashion bloggers are, indeed, one very wanted category of writers!

6. Fashion Designer

But since the world of fashion wouldn’t exist without those creative geniuses we call designers, mentioning them too would be the only fair thing to do! Now, I don’t really need to tell you why designing clothes, bags, shoes and accessories is glamorous and profitable – do I? The road that leads to the top is not always the easiest one to take but, once people start wearing and loving your products, you’ll realize the travel was well worth it. Now, let’s not get too carried away as being a designer doesn’t mean only designing clothes for big companies. Quite contrary! Some designers are responsible for designing fabrics, some design accessories, some costumes and, although their names might not be as well known as Galliano or Lagerfeld, they also bring a lot to the industry!

7. PR

If you thought Public Relations have nothing to do with fashion, you’re up for a very big surprise! Every brand has PRs and they are often both the voice and the face of the company. Company’s PRs deal with media and they must work very hard on the image of the company they represent which of course means dressing up, meeting with popular people, being under the spot light. Not bad at all and I guess the same could be said for the salary!
Katie Franceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12665807196153074019noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4592899459832143310.post-54934142640863231822011-08-21T03:29:00.000-07:002011-08-21T04:02:46.795-07:00Cute Summer Flat Shoes You’ll Love …

It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for that sweet beachy style or you just want to get your hair off of your neck, you always want your hair to look sexy, even in the heat! I care about how you look and I want to make sure that no matter what you’re doing this summer, your hair looks rockin’! Below, we’re going to explore some of the hottest things to try with your hair this summer that will help you beat out the heat and that you can do quickly so you can get out in the sun! Here are 7 sexy summer hair styles.

1. Sleek & Low Tail

By far, one of the cutest, coolest, chicest and any other ‘est’ things you can think of hairstyles that I absolutely love is the sleek and low ponytail. This play on a ponytail is not only high fashion, but it is easy. Want to know what to do? Literately, all you need to do is grab a hair tie, gather your hair at the nape of your neck and stick it into a low ponytail that is a little loose. That’s it. How easy is it to pull this look off when you are running out the door to head to the beach? Super easy right? And super sexy for summer!

2. Loopy & Droopy Bun

The loopy bun is a classic; and one that I absolutely love; it’s one thing that you can do with your hair this summer in five minutes! Just take your low riding ponytail that I talked about in item 1 above and loop it one more time through the hair tie – though this time, do not pull it through all the way. What this does is actually leave you with a loop of a bun, it transforms your ponytail into something sexy and something sleek – and hey, it’s only one more step!

3. Wet & Hot Tail

This one is an easy one and truly one that anyone in the world can do – if you have long hair. Right after you get into the shower, brush your hair back while still wet and slide it into a high ponytail. Slick on some gel or even some mousse and I swear, your hair will look great. In about five minutes flat, you will be out in the sun getting yourself some much needed color!

4. High & Glammy Bun

This is a great little trick if you are going to want to look sexy on the beach while getting your hair wet. How many girls will not swim in an ocean because you are scared your hair will get wet and you will look horrible? I raised my hand, but with this style, I can promise that I will be swimming in the ocean this summer! You just pull your hair back and secure it with not only bobby pins but also with a hair tie and some hairspray and I promise, it won’t move, no matter how wet you get it!

5. Fishtail Braid

Finally, the fishtail braid is a great and sexy alternative to a regular braid. This sexy little braid is not only great to keep your hair in check on the beach, but guess what? If it gets wet, it will only make your hair crimp that much more! If you want a braid that is unique, different and totally twisted, this is the one that will do it for you!
One of the freshest looks for this spring is the pairing of black and white, and there’s no better way to do that than by pairing the classic white button-up with a sexy pair of black shorts. Celebs like Alexa Chung, The City’s Olivia Palmero, Gwyneth Paltrow and British model Daisy Lowe have all been seen rocking this trend on the red carpet .

Palmero wore this trend in a bold and sexy way, with sequined shorts, sky-high black studded heels and a sleek, pulled back hair style. Olivia fashioned the perfect New York look by wearing the style in a sleek and chic way, with just enough glam to make the look turn heads. Palmero accompanied the look with a large and classicly cut handbag to complete the sophistication of her style.

Palrow’s approach to this style was a more laid-back, California type of sex appeal. The star wore her top loosely unbuttoned, wore her hair down, and accompanied the style with a long silver charm necklace, which all gave the traditionally conservative color combination a more bohemian vibe. Paltrow then dialed up the sex appeal by wearing black pumps and holding a hot silver clutch.

Lowe wore this style in a way all her own by pairing the look with unique everyday pieces. Instead of wearing the color combo conservatively, Lowe paired standout accessories with the style to make her own version of the fashion. Lowe paired the shorts with black tights and mid-calf black lace-up boots for a more alternative version of the style. Lowe also wore a brown belt with a bold buck that stood-out against the rest of her outfit.Katie Franceshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12665807196153074019noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4592899459832143310.post-7391429934725120412011-08-16T01:49:00.000-07:002011-08-17T23:17:26.356-07:0010 Hottest Celebrity Hairstyles

1. Pixie cut

Celebrities who rock this hair style: Emma Watson, Michelle Williams
It’s official: with hot celebs like Emma Watson and Michelle Williams rocking this hot celebrity hairstyle, this summer is the Season of the Pixie Cut. It’s short and simple, and incredibly cute. Anyone can wear it, and it’s super-easy to care for and style. I speak from experience, since I had a pixie cut this spring. One note of caution, though: super-short haircuts like Emma Watson’s pixie cut MUST be styled every morning — the bed-head is extreme!

2. Stacked Bob

Celebrities who rock this hair style: Victoria Beckham, Selena Gomez
Before I had my pixie cut this spring, I wore a stacked bob, and it’s so chic! I stole my stacked bob from one of my favorite celebrities, Victoria Beckham, and again, almost any one of us mere mortals can rock the look, too! Be careful about the stylist you choose to do the cut: be sure he or she can do a good precision cut, or it will look choppy and cheap. But when it’s done right, wow, this hairstyle is hot!

3. Messy Curls

Celebrities who rock this hair style: Mary Kate Olsen, Sarah Jessica Parker, Taylor Swift
Another of my favorite looks this summer is the beach-ready look of wind-blown messy curls. It seems like all of my favorite actresses and songstresses are rocking this hot celebrity hairstyle, from Taylor Swift for Sarah Jessica Parker. It’s easy to do. Just add a little mousse to damp hair, and after air-drying, curl a few chunks around the “halo” of your hair with a big curling iron, or even a small flat-iron. Spritz with hair-spray, scrunch with your fingers, and you’re rocking this hottest of the hot celebrity hairstyles, too! Try a cute headband or feather-encrusted clip for extra gorgeous-ness, too!

4. Loose Braid

Celebrities who rock this hair style: Nicole Richie, Leona Lewis
I’ve always loved the look of a messy braid, and this summer, it seems like all of my favorite celebs have been wearing them. I especially love the herringbone braid! They take practice, but they’re so pretty! I’m wondering if they’ll show up, in a less casual format, on any red carpets soon?

5. Long Layers

Celebrities who rock this hair style: Miley Cyrus, Jessica Simpson
Long layers are flattering to almost any face-shape, and they’re so feminine and pretty! Just look at Miss Jessica and Miss Miley — they always look so pretty with their long layers! The longer layers also make it possible to do the messy curls and even the loose braid, so it’s like getting three of the hottest celebrity hairstyles in one!

6. Funky Color

Celebrities who rock this hair style: Rihanna, Pink
The catwalk is full of summer bright dresses, from coral to turquoise, so why not add a little pop of color to your summer tresses, too? Temporary dyes in a rainbow of colors are available in most salons and even drugstores, and we can look to our favorite punk-sass celebs for a hint on where and how to apply. And for another fun layer of funky color, try Featherlocks, too!

7. Fringe

Celebrities who rock this hair style: Jennifer Aniston, Katie Holmes
I loved Jennifer Aniston in her role as a “Horrible Boss,” and aside from her wicked sense of humor, she had the cutest fringe! When have blunt bangs ever looked better? Whether they’re brushing your eyebrows or are cut further up on your forehead, whether they’re wispy or blunt, bangs are another of the hottest celebrity hairstyles you can try!

8. Top Knot

Celebrities who rock this hair style:
The cover of Vogue this month features three gorgeous blonde models, all sporting tight top-knots, and this hot celebrity style is popping up in so many other places, too! I’ve seen J Lo sporting it, and it looks like fun! It’s easy, too: just pull wet hair into a tight bun, gloss over your hair with a light pomade to make sure there are no pesky fly-aways, and you’re ready for a day at the beach or date night!

9. Sleek & Straight

Celebrities who rock this hair style: Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, J Lo
If your hair is straight, and doesn’t like to hold a curl, why fight it? Rock the sleek and straight look, like Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, or Miss J Lo (again!). The key, of course, is deep conditioning and a damn fine flat-iron.

10. Short & Sassy

Celebrities who rock this hair style: Vanessa Hudgens, Rihanna
Two words: faux hawk. While I’m not bold enough to rock one, this hot celebrity hairstyle is so much fun! And there are lots of other short and sassy haircuts I love, including the modified super-short shag Vanessa Hudgens debuted last week. Again, while short hair is fun, and easy to care for, beware the bed-head!
With so many of the hottest celebrities rocking the hottest celebrity hairstyles, the best part is, you’ll never have to choose just one! Rock the pixie cut with a fun color, and occasionally rock it as a faux hawk. Or do the long layers, worn straight and sleek, or with messy curls — so much versatility, so much fun!
One of the hottest spring looks is dashes of bold color, added into your wardrobe for a fresh and fierce style. One way to do this is with a daring orange blazer. Add the piece to other interesting colors or your most basic pieces. Celebs like Rachel Bilson, Camilla Belle, and The City’s Olivia Polmero and Whitney Port have all been spotted wearing the trend.

Bilson wore this look with a classic tan dress, which gives a laid-back yet chic style. With tan boot style open toed sandals and a quilted black bag, Bilson has a fierce style that is perfect for doing lunch with a friend or a night on the town. Pairing the fashion with the classic pair of black wayfarers.

Palmero also chose to pair an orange coat with more classic pieces. To accompany her orange trench style coat, Olivia wore a brown top with plaid pants rolled into a chic cuff. The starlet accessorized with a brown snakeskin clutch and a gold cuff. On top of these basic tones, Palmero also wore daring yellow heels, another one of the spring’s biggest styles.

Celebs like Camilla Belle and Whitney Port have also been pairing the style with equally bold dresses and other pieces. Belle wore the piece with a silky purple top and green high wasted pants. She also wore sexy green shoes and a stand-out gold belt for a sexy and sophisticated style.

Port wore the style with bold pieces, wearing a multi-colored sweater dress. With tights and brown boots, Port wore the style in a way that’s a perfect everyday look.

For your own version of this look, try this blazer by Brionior this one by Giorgio Armani. Or, for a way to incorporate this color into your everyday style, look at this TIBI trench style coat.
More than anything else, keeping your apparel trendy and in style is important in your business and social life. Keeping abreast of the latest styles and hottest fads will help you to keep your wardrobe in the fashion loop. Watching the runways, fashion magazines, store front windows and the celebrities are all ways to stay in the know and keep your closet up to date. Supplying your wardrobe with some staples and spicing it up with hot fall fashion trends can keep you looking like a star, and to be the best dressed among your friends. Here are 7 hot fall fashion trends for Fall 2011 you will not want to miss out on.

1. Fur is Back

Making its grand appearance again this fall will be fur. Be grateful that your grandmother has a closet full because vintage is also coming into play here and her stash will make you quite popular.

2. Bell Bottoms

Good thing we still have some of these tucked away as well. Put away your skinny jeans and slip into these beauties with a little more room to move. Bell bottoms and flared pants will be making a come back with a fashion statement that is louder than ever. Be sure to stock up before the craze hits again.

3. Bows are Still Beautiful

This Fall, bows are still frequently spotted on the runway, but they aren’t quite the same Lady Gaga hair bow that everyone was wearing last year. Now, bows are seen on belts, tees, and A Line dresses. They are a key aspect of fashion right now, but if you don’t use them correctly, it can be a fast fashion disaster. To avoid a fau paux, ditch the hair bows in favor of a pretty shirt with a bow in a colorful print.

4. Sheer Maxi Dress

The Maxi dress has already made its mark on Summer, and now will make an even bigger appearance in the Fall. Fun and affordable, these dresses will be a staple in your Fall wardrobe.

5. Choker Necklaces

These little treasures can also be found in your grandmother’s jewelry box. With many sassy options, you will love the look the choker gives you and the many options of events that you can wear it to. Chokers are the sweetest compliment to a delicate neckline.

6. Pleats

Pleats will be making a big appearance in everything from dresses to shirts and pants. This timeless sewing option gives a big look to a simple pattern and gives your ensemble a pump of pizzazz.

7. Cuffed Bracelets

These chunky treasures can dress you up for the town and make a bold statement in the process. Dig back in your mother’s jewelry box for this one; she may just be able to hook you up. Don’t forget to shop the vintage flea markets and antique jewelry stores for a chance to spot a piece just right for your arm.
By pairing the essentials in your closet with a few well chosen accessories, you can create a look that is both individual and stylish! You can turn your ordinary outfits into extraordinary ensembles simply by pulling in simple pieces that make a big statement. Knowing what items to own and how to use them is the key to changing your style from plain to pizzazz. Here are 10 accessories that transform an outfit instantly.

1. Scarves
Take a cue from Jessica Alba and add a few great scarves to your closet. When you throw on a scarf, you can add an extra layer of color and texture to any existing outfit. Scarves can be tied around the collar, ran through belt loops and even tied on purse straps. Scarves can be found in department stores, thrift stores and high-end retail shops.

2. Jewelry
Jewelry can include necklaces, earrings, bracelets and more. Use these pieces to accentuate your look, to bring attention away from or to specific areas of your body. Fashion jewelry can be purchased inexpensively and worn freely.

3. Belts
Belts can slim your midline and bring your look together with a bang. Belts range in colors, shape and size and can define your outfit and give it the kick it is lacking. Belts can be purchased inexpensively in fashion and department stores and used throughout your wardrobe. Whether you are dressing up or going for a casual look, you can pull a belt into play and transform your outfit.

4. Shoes
Shoes speak a style all their own. By using shoes to transform your outfit you can make your look sexy or sophisticated. Choose shoes that go appropriately with your outfit and of course, always be sure you can walk in them before you leave home.

5. Handbags
Rocking the handbag could be your ticket to transforming your outfit. Handbags are so unique that your closet could play host to a collection keeping your wardrobe popping everyday. The key to a good handbag is to not be afraid of color or pattern. Let your handbag be bold and speak for you.

6. Socks and Stockings
Bring the party to your legs when you take your outfit up a notch with fun stockings or socks. These inexpensive beauties can take your outfit into a different style and keep your look fresh and new.

7. Hair Accessories
Do not be afraid to bring flair from your hair. Beads, ribbons, scarves and more can bring life to your hair and make your wardrobe flow from head to toe. Whether you sport and up-do with some wispy flowers or a long flowing ribbon from your ponytail, the hair is an optimal spot for an accessory.

8. Makeup
Do not discount the power of your pretty face. Having your makeup set to beautiful can bring the kick you need as well. Color on your eyes, cheeks and lips will set the tone for the rest of your outfit.
10. Sweaters
Sweaters can add an element of color, texture and layering to your outfit. Sweaters can be useful for keeping the chills away and for hiding cropped sleeves in the office. They are a quick and easy way to spice up your outfit so make sure you include a few in your wardrobe.
